5 Fun Ways to Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Kids at Home
St. Patrick’s Day is known for huge parades, parties, and feasts all over the world. Whether you used to party with the masses or paid no mind to the holiday, things are always different when you have kids at home.
Holidays are the perfect opportunity to sprinkle a little bit of magic in your kids’ lives – and what’s more magical than leprechaun and rainbows with pots of golf at the end!?
Here are 5 ways you can celebrate the magic of St. Patrick’s Day at home with your family:
- Make a traditional Irish dinner
Have the little ones be your helpers as you whip up some corned beef, cabbage, Irish soda bread, and mashed potatoes. This is a great way to introduce kids to new foods and teach them about cuisines in other cultures!
- Make a shamrock shake
All you need to make a shamrock shake is…
- 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
- 1 ¼ cup milk
- ¼ tsp mint extract
- Green food coloring
Put everything in a blender and blend until smooth! Add whipped cream and chocolate syrup if that sounds yummy to you.
- Hunt for gold
Hide gold-wrapped chocolate coins around the house, like an easter egg hunt. Whoever finds the most wins a prize!
- Have a green outfit contest
See who in the family can wear the most green on St. Patrick’s Day. Whoever loses has to do an Irish jig!
- Feast on green foods
Incorporate all the green foods into your meals on St. Patrick’s Day! You can put a few drops of green food coloring into scrambled eggs, add green veggies to your plates, and dip chips in guacamole. Wash it all down with some green grape juice!
