Fun and Interactive Snacks about Weather to Make with your Children!
At Imagine Early Education and Childcare, we believe in learning through hands-on activities, and turning mealtimes into a creative weather lesson is a perfect example. Here’s a fun idea to make a weather-themed snack together:
Sunny Day Snack
- Ingredients:
– Sliced oranges or mandarin segments (for the sun)
– Blueberries or blue yogurt (for the sky)
– Mini marshmallows or whipped cream (for clouds)
– Pretzel sticks (for raindrops or rays of sun)
- Instructions:
Start by laying the orange slices in a circle on the plate to form the sun. Then, scatter a few blueberries or spoon some blue yogurt around it to represent the sky. Use marshmallows or whipped cream to create fluffy clouds above the sun. If you want to add a twist, place pretzel sticks coming out of the sun as its rays, or lay them under the clouds as falling rain.
- Weather Talk:
As you build the snack together, talk to your child about different weather types: what happens on a sunny day, how clouds form, and what it means when we see rain. This fun and edible creation offers a unique way to engage in conversation about weather while making a tasty treat!
Incorporating weather into food creation sparks curiosity and strengthens your child’s understanding of the world around them. At Imagine, we encourage learning through everyday activities, turning even snack time into an opportunity for discovery!
